I set out to roll the elevator skins. From working on the
rudder, I know this will not be pleasant. I went to Rona and picked up some 3/4"
J-hooks and bolted them to the table. I then used gorilla tape to tape the
entire length of the skin edge to my 3/4" aluminum pipe. I laid out
garbage bags on the table to help the assembly slide while rolling. Just like
the rudder....It's not easy to roll, and much massaging needed to be done to
get the pieces to fit together nice. Very time consuming, but I managed to get
the right elevator done.
I picked up a cheap pop rivet tool from Canadian Tire and
ground the side of it off. I also ground a bit of an angle on the fitting so it
now will allow me to set the top most pop rivet in the rudder!
