Little more riveting on the Aft Fuse - 3 hours

I haven't spent any time really on the build. Just soo unmotivated and I've been concentrating on getting back into cycling. In May I cycled 750 km (466 miles) so that ate up a lot of spare time in the evenings.

Fortunately my buddy Mike had some time to come over and give me a hand to buck some of the more tricky rivets on the aft fuse. By the end of the evening, nearly all of the corner rivets on the bulkheads were done. I just have about 10 to 15 left so I will schedule Mike for another night and hopefully we can finish it up.

Cut the F-916C spacers - 1.5 hours

Again, not feeling very motivated on the build. But I wanted to start in on the centre section and I needed to cut and drill the F-916C spacers. Its fairly straight forward, cut on the bandsaw, shape on the sanding station, then into the drill press.

The 2019 Camrose Fly-in Breakfast

I don't normally post all my flights as they are not very adventurous and kind of boring. However today is a different story. I rented C-FWTO and I took my kids out to the Camrose Fly-in breakfast. I always enjoy these as they are a family event, and I get to check out at all the RV's and also to look at some of the build examples. So I generally take lots of reference pictures.

However I really enjoyed flying with the kids and I don't do it that much.
 

Basically done riveting the aft fuse sides - 3 hours

Well, I've done as much riveting of the aft fuse that I can do by myself. The sides are all done. The only items left outstanding are the corners at each bulkhead. Those I just can't do by myself and I will need a good bucking partner to help me with that.

Started riveting the aft fuse sides - 2.5 hours

Not much to report. started bucking the side skins on the aft fuselage. Much easier than the bottoms. Just mindless riveting. I tried to re-adjust the assembly to ensure level when riveting, its a bit of a losing battle cause you would get it level, drive a rivet and then it would be all off and then you would have to repeat the process.  In the end I kind of gave up on trying to get it perfect. Looks like you perfect it later when you get the longerons and aft deck skin on the assembly. I did alternate sides after every 4 rivets to help balance and keep things level as best I could.

Finished riveting the aft fuse (bottom skin) - 6 hours

I'm not loving the riveting of the aft fuse bottom skin. Skinning the wings was much easier in my opinion. One of the issues I was having is that the back rivet set would like to wander increasing the chance of a poorly set rivet. So I decided to make a rivet guide out of a piece of wood. The wood is drilled such that it allows the cleco adjacent to the rivet I want to set, the perfect distance for my back rivet set to be in the correct position. The result is that it is much easier to keep the rivet set from wandering.

Once I had the makeshift rivet guide figured out, riveting ease and success rates increased dramatically. So I just kept grinding on.

In the end, I'm extremely happy with the shop heads.
